Re: boot from SAN on BL460C

Below are the steps need to perform to boot the Blade from SAN.

 

1. While booting the server you need to press <Alt E >or <Ctrl E> . This will take you in the Emulex BIOS.

2. For PXESelect Ultily - You need to press <Ctrl P>. And Select any First Emulex Adapter  & press Enter.

 

NOTE MAC ADDRESS ON Controller 0 Port 1

Example translates to NIC MAC : ############## which will be entered in the Kickstart GUI.

 

3. You need to Enable the Boot Support & Save the config.

4. Disable other Conroller if any.

5. <ctrl E> to get into SAN Switch Admin  & Select first then enter.

6. You have the multiple option . But select "Enable/Disable Boot From SAN", enter to go in & Select Enable to configure.

7. Scan for Target Devices- Which will scan the HBA & SAN Lun.

 

Note # Should see LUN, if Not Seen STOP!! or else check with your Storage Admin.

 

8. <arrow-down> to Config Boot Device <enter> .

9. Select the Used from "List of Saved Boot Device" & Enter.

10. Chose you Lun whether it is NATAPP/SAN/ & Follow the manu.

11. Then Select Boot this device via WWPN & press escape to back.

12. <arrow-down> to Advanced Adapter Params <enter>

13. <arrow-down> to Enable/Disable Spinup Delay <enter> & Set is as ENABLE.

14. Select "Auto Scan Settings" & <down-arrow> First LUN ## device <enter> <escape> to return

15. Enable Auto Boot Sector from Enable/Disable Auto Boot Sector.

 

16. Press esc >> esc & do the same configuration for second Emulex Adapter in the system
