We are in the process of planning our VMView environment within our medical practice. Question is, is there a VM product that will allow us to use SSO (Single-Sign-On) for our user login and practice management software? Currently, our physicans are logging in mulitple times just to get to patient information. If that could be cut down to a single log-in, it would solve a lot of issues. Thanks in advance for your assistance/suggestions.

View supports SSO. You can log into View just once, then when you select a desktop, View logs in to the desktop OS automatically with SSO.

If the user has already logged in to the domain on their Windows client you can log into View without even needing to enter password again so sign-on to the local client, View Connection Server and the Desktop (three places) can be done with just a single entry of password.

Once the user is on their virtual desktop, they are logged in to the domain automatically and any software they run on that desktop can also make use of "log in as current user" if that software supports it and so providing a further level of SSO.

For the Healthcare industry, there are several vendors who support SSO through Smart Card/Biometric devices etc. which integrates with VMware View.

Let us know more about your environment and I'm sure someone can jump in with their experiences.
